Work in progress: Nigamon/Tunai, to be presented as part of FTA 2023

— June 3-4, 2023 at FTA, Montreal —

Productions Onishka will be sharing a work-in-progress of Nigamon/Tunai as part of Festival TransAmériques’s ‘Playground events’.

Émilie Monnet and Waira Nina Jacanamijoy have been collaborating for almost ten years on solidarity-based exchanges between their respective Anishinaabeg and Inga communities—and, more broadly, with other Indigenous artists. This has inspired a new work currently in development. In Nigamon/Tunai, they explore what it means to be a good ally. At the intersection of friendship and the battle for land rights, these two women invite us to take part in a moment of sharing, founded on the living knowledge that connects Indigenous peoples from the North and the South.

June 3 (1pm) + June 4 (3pm) @ Théâtre rouge du Conservatoire (studio multimédia) | 4750, avenue Henri-Julien (Montreal)
